Review

TLDR: Sword Maiden Hata is an SS tier offensive and damage support Mage that can lead Mages teams and counter units who thrive off of counter attacking normal attacks or physical damage. F2P can invest in her with reasonable gains, but should invest heavily over a long period if they choose to do so, since she is a DPS unit and requires her stars to be at her most effective.

Sword Maiden Hata has a very high base speed for a Mage, taking her turns prior to Warriors, Tanks and other Mages. Her personal damage can be very high as well, and her ultimate targets lowest health enemies acting as a finisher. She also provides DPS support in the form of 20% MDmg to all allies, and 10% healing every turn for the back row.

However Sword Maiden Hata's most unique mechanic is in her weapon, which does not need to be maxed to gain the effect of. For every Mage in the party, including herself, it will convert the Normal Attack (taken on odd turns if the unit's energy bar isn't full) into MDmg, granting it 100% accuracy while also bypassing evasion and PDmg counter effects, and at the end of the turn it will duplicate the damage from every normal attack dealt by a Mage multiplied by the damage modifier based on Hata's weapon level. Amongst other strategies, this weapon skill enables Mage teams to attack Asaka without counter attack, bypass Hata&Hibiki evasion, burst down physical resist tanks or any other vulnerable position 1 enemy. Since Mages typically have 60% accuracy, it is a significant damage bonus to ensure 100% accuracy, amp the magic damage by 20%, then duplicate the damage through a multiplier at the end of the turn. This mechanic is strong, but counterable by playing a strong Magic Resist tank like Tekka or Luna.

Sword Maiden Hata's weapon is a must invest, but can perform very well at early stages by simply adding damage with a multiplier to each Mage normal attack at the end of the turn. The +40 stage of the weapon adds a larger chunk of multiplier, but also a 20% PDR for the back row, which is nice, but not necessary for her to function in her role.

Sword Maiden Hata has plenty of usage for a F2P even without being max star, being able to buff team MDmg 20%, heal the back row 10% HP as well as amplify Mage normal attacks and convert them to MDmg, which has a number of implications throughout the game. F2P would do best to invest fairly heavily in Sword Maiden Hata, if they chose to build her, meaning it could be a long investment. It should be mentioned in the same breath that this unit is currently censored as well though.

It is likely that Sword Maiden Hata will end up leading another pillar of PVP Meta, but also have some usage throughout Guild Bosses and Parallel Worlds. She should be considered a fairly high priority for whales to build amongst the available festival girls.
